Ross Gustafson Edmonton Journal is grasping at straws for their leftist friends again.----------Julie Ali I don't think that the EJ is grasping at straws. The employers (the citizens of Alberta) are mildly in disbelief at the idea of an employee trashing his career for a couple of thousand dollars that he gives back to the GOA too late. It's a very dumb thing to have done and the price of this mistake will be high. The UCP if--it knew of this poor use of the housing allowance don't look too fiscally responsible either. In any case, this particular straw that you call it has helped a lot of citizens see the politicians --well at least one politician as he is. This is always helpful and we're grateful to the EJ for this article.-----

Marilyn Mckercher
Right-- blame the "leaker" not the actual guilty person. Very trumplike

Ken Michel One interesting aspect of this story is that it was Greg Clark, leader of the Alberta Party, that led the change to 'actual expenses' instead of a flat rate maximum, not the so-called 'watchers of the taxpayer' on the right. Add to this the fact that the Alberta Party is the only opposition party to create a line-item shadow budget and right now, they are the only fiscally transparent party out there.

Harvey Bishop Ross Gustafson No. Postmedia is influenced by the Conservatives. This can't help the UCP. They are continuing where the uncomparrably corrupt Alberta PCs left off. The Alberta PCs, in the last 30 years, were involved with corruption of the worst kind. That's why they finally had to go. The UCP would only repeat that.

Charles Aldrich it's an efficient and creative use of his resources, we certainly don't want that type of thinking in government.

Julie Ali No actually we don't. We would prefer politicians only use the money they are given for housing for this purpose and not to start a side business as a rental property.

Moira Gracey Is he also using the rental income to write off some of his housing expenses and reducing how much tax he'll pay?

Carol Rodd Hey, where is Debra Drever living? Somehow I doubt she is honest. After all, anyone who has "relations" with a beer bottle gives me doubt.

Julie Ali No. Politicians of all parties will milk the system and we will only find out when politicians provide this information for their own benefit.
