Edward Redshaw 58 mins · Will someone be so kind as to tell me what these jobs are? This is frightening.--------------Edward Redshaw The bloated Alberta Health Services, over 108,000 employees and increasing evety year, needs to be overhauled but Sarah Hoffman says that is not being considered. Through the Freedom of information I looked through 592 pages of Alberta Health Services meetings minutes. There were reports from over 30 different committees. I am sure many of these are essentially coffee gatherings. Also it was reported that there are 4 Vice Presidents in some departments. All this disgraceful stuff while good, useful people lose their jobs. I'm sure that if we got rid of half the staff in the departments who sit around ordering the front line workers --the managers and department heads (non-academic) we'd have performance. Also they need to end tenure. They have to introduce new blood and tenure is expensive.------------------

#LetTheCutBacksBegin!--but not to the front line staff but to the top dogs. Why the heck should we pay for top dogs in big offices without deliverables? Why do we have so many executive staff and really so many staff period for ministers and AHS staff? Why? I guess because the top dogs are essential to Alberta. Essential my foot. Get rid of half of the executive staff at the GOA and the ABCs (agencies, boards and commissions). Pay them LESS. If they don't want to work for LESS too bad, let them find jobs elsewhere then. We can always find people to work especially in the recession we're in.Then lets ensure that we keep the frontline workers who are losing their jobs. Front line workers are essential to Alberta. Not the top dogs.

Arthur Dear All those people wanting gov to control the budget? This is how it is done.

Julie Ali They need to be cutting the jobs at the managerial level, the executive staff and downsizing salaries. If this means less people to sit around having coffee meetings all the better. The GOA and universities need to show us value for the money spent.

Julie Ali Edward Redshaw They always cut front line and essential staff so that they can pretend they need the managers and top dogs.

Jennifer Kopp I know all my family and friends with wee ones, their classroom sizes are almost doubled. And extra curricular activities have been cancelled. And special needs as well have been down played for sure.

Julie Ali My experience meeting with AHS, Covenant Health and Alberta Health staff is that we are not getting value for the big bucks spent on the big wigs. I have to date no sort of idea why we have so many executive and managerial staff at the health authority and Covenant Health. What also do the folks at Alberta Health do? There seems to be an increase in staff at all Alberta Health departments except at the Payne person's office (she just has one staff to help her and I guess this is because she is there to be the bad news bearer when the Hoffman doesn't want to give us bad news):https://www.alberta.ca/.../directorysearch/goaBrowse.cfm... Phone Title
