Julie Ali I would suggest to all of you to set up blogs chronicling your problems in accessing services and supports. The government in Alberta doesn't do much for kids with disabilities until there is #MediaAttention. A group of parents meeting with the bigwigs gets things rolling and a few articles in CBC which is national news will get you results. Don't wait for help at the local level. Go right to the top and if this doesn't get you results keep writing for years documenting government inaction. Sooner or later, the human rights of the mentally ill and those with disabilities will be respected. Right now in Alberta the mental health system is in chaos and has been for decades because citizens with mental health issues do not have a voice in our society and cannot advocate for themselves. But this too, will change. When we speak publicly and keep speaking with follow up political action (voting out the non-performing political hires).
