This and That -Thursday June 16, 2017

We went to see Dr. Jonathan Choy at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute today.
I don't know too much about Dr. Choy since we had another cardiologist who retired before him. We got the information we needed to progress in our review of dad's health.
After coming home younger boy planted the tomato plants and did sundry other digging required by his grandpa.
I brought him and mum home. They are now eating lunch. Mum is sitting on the fat sofa near the fire surrounded by small plates of food. I have learned from my younger boy to offer small amounts of many things to get some of the food down.
While they eat I want to do my investigations and get some work done before it is time to take mum for an outing.
Here is information on Dr. Choy who seems to be a busy person:

Jonathan Choy, MD, FRCPC, FACC, FASE
Clinical Professor
Division of Cardiology
2C2 Walter Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre
Office: 780-407-3581

Director, Adult Echocardiography, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute
Dr. Jonathan Choy's completed his cardiology training at the University of Alberta in 1999. After a one-year fellowship in echocardiography, with some of his time spent in Bonn, Germany learning contrast echo, he was appointed Clinical Faculty in 2000, and promoted to Clinical Professor in 2012. He holds Royal College certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography.
He has lectured annually to the medical students on ECG interpretation since 2003. In 2005, he was appointed the Director if the Echocardiography Laboratory and since then, has actively propelled the lab into one of the most technologically advanced in North America. Techniques introduced in 2007 include echo-guided cardiac resynchronization therapy, and real-time 3D transesophageal echocardiography. After a short sabbatical in Oxford, UK in 2007, stress myocardial contrast echocardiography imaging was introduced to the city. This has now grown to be the biggest program in Western Canada.
His main clinical and research collaborations are in the areas of real-time perfusion echocardiography, and 3D echocardiography, and he has mentored many students, residents and fellows in clinical research.
He is also currently serving as the President for the Section of Cardiology with the Alberta Medical Association (2012-2015), and is engaged in provincial projects refining healthcare delivery to become more cost effective and provide better patient outcomes.
Outside of work he enjoys traveling with his family, photography, skiing, scuba diving, classical music and golf.
