--Petitioning Alberta Infrastructure Save the Museum Building in Old Glenora June Acorn Canada------ Julie Ali Edmonton, Canada 1 sec ago The record of the NDP folks to date has been abysmal and will continue until the date we vote. I doubt that they are interested in preserving history because like the PCs before them -they are only interested in one thing-which is re-election. When voters look at the performance of the NDP I hope they will also consider their record of destruction and not just infrastructure building. If they destroy a perfectly good building like the RAM this indicates to all citizens that they are not good stewards of public dollars not only in terms of creation of a massive provincial debt but also in the destruction of public assets. My feeling is that this sort of record should be an indication that we don't re-elect them. We've fired the hospital demolition crew of the PCs. If the NDP folks destroy the RAM why bother to keep them around?

The RAM was paid for and enjoyed by all of us. The building can be repurposed -thereby saving us a ton of public dollars. If the GOA can fork over $235 million to big oil to pay for their liabilities in the orphan well program my feeling is that they can save the RAM.
But will they?
The oil and gas industry is the elite of our society.
We're just the people of Alberta. We don't count. Until it is election day.
Then we're big people.
The GOA can do anything it damn well wants to do. We're asking the GOA to save the RAM.
Elections are moderating forces for our society. I imagine the next provincial election will be a way to get our voices heard even if we are ignored at this very moment in time.

PETITION UPDATE

This petition is the largest protest for an endangered building in Alberta History

JUN 30, 2017 — A person who is familiar with the matter told me that this is the largest protest against demolition of a building in Alberta's history. It should be giving the NDP government pause when they are in the middle of a campaign to be re elected wouldn't you think?

Hi June--Have you got in contact with your councillor? What about the folks who are competing in Glenora to get elected in the next municipal election? What do they have to say?
