an interesting day -Wendy Rudiger Kendyl Hudson. Correct. It happened under Ric McIvers watch (or lack there of) pretty hypocritical of him to even open his mouth!! Same with the PC'S who abolished the Child Welfare Services Ministry. I hope they choke on their lying tongues !!! Like · Reply · 1 hr Julie Ali Julie Ali While it is hypocritical of Ric McIver to decry the failures of the NDP folks in this case, there is also the hypocrisy of the NDP folks that you fail to mention. Why for example was there such a long time for an autopsy report to be published? Why is there the same #PanelPolitics diversion we saw with the PCs and their roundtable of spin? Why are there six children living in a placement where Serenity was starved and abused? What is going on with the NDP government to explain these bizarre events? Surely Serenity's death and the removal of her siblings was enough to indicate the inappropriateness of keeping the six kids in this home?

  • Unsurprisingly there are non-compliances found at another LTC facility in Alberta. The usual response of the folks at AB Health and AHS follow. Meanwhile who raised the alarm? I find out it was a group of student nurses. Hmm...so if the student nurses were alarmed what about the regular staff at the facility?
And why did the audits by the folks at AB Health and AHS not find the many non-compliances to the standards of care? What are we paying the auditing staff to do? Wait until the public tells them that there are non-compliances in order to do the Quality Reviews? And how come we don't get to see the Quality Reviews until there is #MediaAttention? Hey AB Health and AHS--I'm still waiting for the Quality Reviews from 2014 that I did not get because I guess the government of Alberta is more interested in protecting third party business interests and its own image than in informing the public of health and safety issues in long term care. I mean Ontario reports on audits and critical care failures and so why not Alberta? Well in Alberta the GOA is into secrecy. #GOASECRECY

Vicki Mona Savoie At the end of the day - no one has been charged with the murder of Serenity. Why???

Wendy Rudiger The RCMP will release the info when they can. It's important to get it done correctly isn't it?

Julie Ali Wendy Rudiger And how long will it take for justice for Serenity? It's already been far too long.

Just now
It has certainly been an interesting day. The odd revelations of the Serenity case have made me wonder what the heck is going on at the GOA. Then there was the long term care at Lacombe which had student nurses complaining about the non-compliances to the standards of care. We have the ongoing case of the Tucker family with the alleged abuse of their mum over five years at a Grande Prairie facility. Comments on the Lacombe long term care indicate that other facilities are experiencing care issues:

SERIOUS FAILURES and problems at red deer MICHENER extendicare as well. My family has contacted AHS regarding ELDER ABUSE charges!!! VERY terrible practices by most of the untrained and unqualified staff caring for the very frail and sick.

I agree fully my dad was there for eight weeks and the horrible practices that we witnessed and medication abuse terrified us as a family and many others that had loved ones there too. We defiantly made formal complaints about that facility. The building and set up was amazing though.

Better be careful. Retribution is the result of yapping about problems. Banning, evictions, lawsuits follow.

then if these issues have been taken care of,why did my 95 year old mother in law,who has dementia and parkinson desease,,fall and break her leg, where the bone came out through the flesh, and had to be taken to the red deer hospital and be operated on,yesturday, may 9,if the staff that is suppose to be looking after people like this, were doing there job, then this wouldnt of happened,a few months ago her shins were, stripped of flesh, because whoever was taken her off the toilet, didnt pay attention when she screamed in pain,so we were told,we seen the flesh wounds, and this wouldnt be the first time that laundry was laying around, either, who ever is in care of this facility, should be fired, but some union rep will get it swept under the rug, with some,BS excuse,as well as alberta health will protect the management, who are not union members.
