Peter Loto I think Wynne and her cronies should be voted back in again so they are in power when the Province finally goes bankrupt. After all if another party takes power the Provincial Liberals ( Wynne and DeSousa will have left and been gifted some lucrative position somewhere) and all their mindless thralls would blame the new government or maybe even Mike Harris. Either way this Province is shot. The parrot will be dead and not just sleeping. Unlike · Reply · 1 · 15 mins Julie Ali Julie Ali This is an interesting idea but this means folks in Ontario would be stuck with the monarchs for yet another term. I don't know about Ontario voters but in Alberta we're turfing our new NDP oil monarchs in the next provincial election. We've learnt our lesson after 44 years of the PC oil monarchs. They're all the same.

Andrew Coyne: Everything, and I do mean everything the Wynne government is up to these days is concerned exclusively with the time remaining before it must meet the voters.

John Hawk They lie about everything, when you have absolute belief in your superiority it allows you to do and say anything to keep yourself in power for the good of the people. It's very typically liberal.

Robert Moore The Wynne govt won't be around to see if i's balanced or not, that's the really good news. Charles DeSousa was on CBC a little while ago dodging Rosie's question about what the interest payments/yr were. Eventually he said it was $12 billion but "cheaply financed".

Adam Hunter The problem is that no matter who replaces them (that is - if Ontarians are not collectively stupid enough to vote them in again, which I tend to believe they are) won't be able to do anything to fix that province. Ontario is over. Bankrupt. Finito. There's no coming back from the hole they dug themselves into.

Pete Roth DeSousa is a POS wynne henchman, who lies and misdirects at EVERY opportunity. Do not trust this socialist.

Scott Mulvogue "Borrowed" from the comments section of another paper.....I couldn't have said it better.

The question journalists at Queen's Park should be asking is this: "Ms. Wynne, in Standard and Poor's last credit downgrade, they noted that Ontario is making sl
ow progress in reducing its 'after-capital deficit.' Do you consider this budget to be really balanced given that the 'after-capital deficit' is still $12.2 billion? Do you think it is sustainable for the province to continue increasing the actual debt by $12 billion per year? What do you think about the changes your government has made to its accounting methodology, which moves $12 billion out of the budget into "capital spending"? Does your government have plans to balance the 'after-capital deficit', which was last balanced (i.e. net debt did not increase) by the Progressive Conservatives in 2003?"

Journalists, why don't you do your job?

Darshan Maharaja Seeing as the government claims that the budget is balanced when there is no provision made for an expense of $ 465 million for prescription medicines, coupled with their contention that any debt incurred towards investing in asset isn't part of budget deficit, one is led to conclude that the government must think of prescription medication as an asset.

Susan Marit Anyone with half a brain would know that the liberals have NEVER been able to balance a budget. Thier math skills couldn't fool a fifth grader and Wynne expects us to buy it? I truly hope the MORONS who voted for her before see through want she is doing. She is promising the moon right until she gets re-elected and then she will start adding more and more debt, increase hydro rates further and plunge us into bankruptcy. She will make Greece look like a picnic.

Julie Ali Actually I think the debt business is not limited to just the Liberals. Mr. Harper was also pretty good at debting. And in Alberta the NDP folks are debting up a storm.

Derek Riddell It's a shame morally bankrupt despots have to fret about voters and elections. But when the voters keep electing the despots, you learn to stop caring, or move to sunnier pastures. It's a shame the Premier can't devote her time to running Ontario on a whim. You get what you vote for.
