Neil deGrasse Tyson on the Threat of Science Denial

The astrophysicist says that when you have people who don't know much about science denying it and rising to power, it's a recipe for the complete dismantling of our democracy.
'When you have people who don't know much about science standing in denial of it and rising to power, it's a recipe for the dismantling of our democracy.'

Julie Ali In my opinion, it appears that the dumb bunny citizens do not understand science, are afraid of thinking about the problems such as those associated with fracking and would not speak out because of fear, job impact etc. The lack of public discourse in Alberta about problems is troubling. The use of water by the oil and gas industry is never mentioned in the media and yet water scarcity will be more of a problem than any other problem. Folks are worried about their jobs if they are critical of the oil and gas industry but what good are jobs if the water can't be drunk due to fracking contamination? Not only do we lack brains about decision making due a lack of science literacy but we also lack courage in facing the reality of the problems associated with the development of the oilsands. The good easy oil is gone; we've got to use fracking for the rest as well as Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage; I imagine water use for these projects is massive.
