All of this junk tells me quite clearly that the institutions and the continuing care industry are afraid of families. They are afraid of advocates speaking about abuse, neglect and deaths. They are so afraid that they will send security guards to little old women like Ruth Adria and get her escorted out as if she were a THREAT to them. It's ridiculous. Here is Ruth Adria speaking about this junk: Home > Abuse & Neglect Studies > Unprovoked banning of visitor at Caritas Hospitals We have sent the attached along so that you may understand how determined the system is to frighten, discourage and get rid of me. I was sitting quietly with a dying man, Konstanty (Ken) Stankiewicz on the evening of the 24th of October (He died on the 26th). His 93 year old wife went home to sleep, she was exhausted. I was sitting in a chair beside the dying man, in a dimly lit room. Staff were kind to me and even gave me a heated blanket – though I did not have conversation with them or discuss the care øf the dying man. At 2:00 AM I became aware of two large uniformed persons standing in the darkened doorway, who asked me to step into the hallway. The male constable demanded my license. He then read me my rights, cautioned me, told me to call a lawyer if I wished and said anything I said could be used against me. I was frightened (AND VERY TIRED) and said I did not wish to cause a problem but that I had been there that day/afternoon and often before, The male constable, who was the only one who addressed me, said that I should stop saying that because he would have to give me additional tickets for that. He filled out the attached. He informed me that there was a restraining Order against me signed by a judge in the Misericordia Security office. I have never been served any documents, Restraining Order in this regard or was aware of what he was claiming. I had been removed from the Misericordia Hospital on February 19, 2004 – note “Case Study” in www.elderadvocates.ca . They walked me past the nursing station, out of the nursing home, to my car. Once outside, the male constable thanked me a number of times that I had been cooperative. Ruth Maria Adria

The lack of protection for families with reference to the Trespass to Premises legislation was done deliberately by the PCs in my opinion. They had the option to put in an independent appeal process so that families who were banned could appeal but nope they didn't want the bother of this option so they simply made the law so that the hammer of power is in the hands of the institutions and the continuing care industry.

When we hired the NDP folks we believed they would correct this imbalance of power but nope, they didn't bother. Why would they give the little people any power? The NDP did nothing.

How Ruth Adria has survived decades of such humiliation and harm done to her is beyond my understanding.  The utter arrogance of government, public bodies and health authorities happened because there was no social media. But we have social media now and we can expose this junk.

We can tell other families what goes on in the continuing care and health care systems. We can speak of how best to protect yourself so that you do not get the hammer coming down on your families. We can speak of how guardianship is attempted to make the system run smoothly. We can speak about how the system plans these events of retribution as part of their risk management strategies. We can see how the industry says one thing and does other things. We can reveal the dissonance and the lack of communication with citizens. We can speak of the failures.

And most of all we can marvel at how one woman --decade after decade kept the faith with her integrity and spoke for the least among us.

Thank you Ruth Adria.  I don't know how you have done this work for so long with even the police assisting in removal of banned seniors:
