#NotDeadYet-------So the family had to work from 2010 to now to get this junk rooted out. We still have to work to get this junk rooted out. It's like a permanent curse over Rebecca. Meanwhile no one is held to account, the doctors do their own thing while their bosses at the Grey Nuns Hospital simply let them do their premature termination junk and the health minister like the other ineffectual politician of the Notley just tell us to bugger off and sue folks in their response from the Alberta Connects folks. What the heck? Do none of these folks know what their job descriptions are? I would respectfully suggest that the executive at the health authorities, the bigwigs at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the health minister, the premier and the federal health minister think of their duties to the handicapped and old in our society. Protections need to be in place for the folks who cannot defend themselves. Or does government want to prune health budgets by getting rid of citizens in this dumb and unethical fashion? I have been yapping about the not dead yet business for ages and everyone simply ignores me. Why? Because they figure I will give up. Why should I give up? These are our beloved family members. Who the heck gives doctors the almighty right to premature terminate our family members? No one. We need to kick butt and get government to do its job of protecting our defenceless family members. If government will not do it I suggest to families that such disputes be made public so that media attention will do what kind conversation won't do.

#NotDeadYet--The doctors at the Grey Nuns Hospital tried over and over again to prematurely terminate my handicapped sister between 2010 to 2015.
They think that she is disposable and it would be kinder to her to not have the "burden" of the BIPAP use and instead have the comfort of dying without intubation.
You gotta admire the professionals. They have all the language needed to put down dogs and cats and human beings.
Not able to do the dirty deed in 2010, they try again in 2013 and in 2014. When she is evicted from the Good Samaritan Extended Care at Millwoods to the Grey Nuns Hospital, there were more goals of care changes even though she was supposedly stable. So stable in fact that they downgraded her from long term care to SL4 status.
It's troubling to see this junk exposed in a medical file but more troubling than this evidence of premature termination attempts over years is the failure of the health ministers at the provincial and federal level to protect handicapped citizens from premature termination. After all if you can't get the opportunity at death by doctor if you lack insight why are you given the involuntary DNR when you lack insight?
It's ridiculous.
It may be some sort of back room privilege of doctors that has been going on for ages when we did not have social media. Now we have social media we need to tell these professionals that we won't accept premature termination of our handicapped family members. And if no one listens we need to go to the media. #MediaAttention does it far better than our appeals to the political hires.

Rebecca is home. She is watching a Disney movie.
Younger boy's computer is again having problems.
I have been out to pick up Rebecca and the wind almost blew us away. There were no parking spots left so I had to park away from the Villa Marguerite place. At the Villa Marguerite they are building a structure in front that is speeding along.
For lunch I am eating toast with cream cheese as I haven't had a chance to go shop. There is enough food in the house for today and I will just give Rebecca apple slices and cranberries for her snack. After the movie Rebecca intends to paint. Hopefully we will have enough time for her to do some work before we head back to the Villa.
Now I have a bit of time to go look at the medical file. I am still stuck in 2013. Rebecca was decanted out the ICU at the Grey Nuns Hospital where she was intubated for the first time. After a rapid extubation, she was discharged. She was sent home to the Good Samaritan extended care at Millwoods but staff found her unstable. They send her to the UAH. There her GCS (Glasgow coma scale) goes down to coma level. They do the second intubation and she is transferred to the Royal Alexandra Hospital ICU where she stays from August 22, 2013 to September 12, 2013 in the ICU there.
I am reading about the report in the transition space in the UAH emergency on August 22, 2013. The doctor is going through all the code changes for Rebecca and can't decide which is the most dependable.
He says the Good Samaritan Extended Care at Millwoods has provided documents for R1 Status for full resuscitation. But then the most recent document from the GNH ICU is R3.
When the doctor goes to Netcare there are documents of every variety--full code, no ICU/ no intubation and the doctor is unclear what the hell is going on.
I wasn't there to tell him what was going on which was an ongoing effort by the doctors at the Grey Nuns Hospital to deny life saving services to my sister.
The emergency doctor sends her off to the RAH ICU.
He thinks this is going to be solved later on.
In fact, the same junk is repeated in 2014. Rebecca ends up in the GNH ICU between May 29 to June 3, 2014. They get a consultant on May 31, 2014 to put down no intubation yet again. How does the consultant justify the decision to go against the personal directive requirements in this way?
The doctor says the BIPAP is a burden for my poor sister and we must alleviate this burden by focusing on kindness. What kind step does the doctor recommend? The doctor says --to think of her comfort as she dies because of the unethical and dumb decision. What the heck? How is it even possible that doctors can think in these dumb ways and get through medical school?
Or are these DNR orders a secret weapon of the profession to be used against citizens with major handicaps and the tiresomely old?
It's ridiculous.
So the family had to work from 2010 to now to get this junk rooted out. We still have to work to get this junk rooted out. It's like a permanent curse over Rebecca.
