John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights Sponsored · Only 16 more DAYS until the deadline to submit a workshop idea for #IgniteChange. Deadline is Wednesday, March 15.-------Julie Ali Can we have Ruth Adria speak about elder abuse and how we are to work together to solve the problems in legislation, oversight and lack of penalties? I am specifically interested in Ruth Adria presenting the facts about her experience with retribution which is used to silence advocates in the system. The government of Alberta is fully complicit in this silencing since it created the Trespass to Premises legislation used by authorities to ban advocates and separate families from loved ones in care. When will there be full disclosure by the GOA of these problems and the repercussions on advocates which go beyond banning and tickets to legal threat and lawsuits?---

#IgniteChange #FollowingRuthAdria--Ruth Adria has worked for decades to end the silencing of the lambs in the continuing care system. This silencing has happened with the full complicity of the government of Alberta which provided the tools of suppression to continuing care businesses as well as hospitals in the Trespass to Premises Legislation.
No appeal is present in this law. Why? I guess the PCs and now the NDP don't want the dirty secrets of banning, evictions, cease/desist letters and finally lawsuits to get out to the public.
We need more human rights defenders like Ruth Adria speaking for our most defenceless citizens in the continuing care system. But unless information is provided to the public most people do not know of these suppression tactics of the partners in health care--Alberta Health, AHS, Covenant Health and the continuing care industry. It is time the real facts of retribution gets out to the public. Let Ruth Adria tell you of these facts and let us all become human rights defenders like her.

Outside it is brilliant. Shine everywhere. Like waxed floors. Younger boy is shuffling through morning breakfast. Cut apple slices. Milk. Cereal. Soon be off to NAIT.
When he gets home we will do the job hunt again. A job application a day might get him to the summer job and Coop placement for his diploma.
In any case brilliant out. I will go and pick up Rebecca for the art and film stimulation program. I have the oil pastels by the side of the comfy chair. I will cut her orange slices. Everything will be perfect.
While she paints I will go through the lawsuit documents. Many pieces of data to be made into the jigsaw picture.
It is unfortunate that government does not do the work of oversight in the continuing care system because there are definitely problems and I am seeing them.
But there you go. The day is beautiful. Rebecca is coming home. The world still goes on.
