AUPE - Alberta Union of Provincial Employees February 8 at 4:00pm · Yikes! Since the bosses at Points West Living Inc. decided to lock out their staff for calling for quality care, things have gotten worse for residents. Everything from the cleanliness and regular cleaning to water temperature for the therapeutic tubs has failed to meet Alberta Health inspection standards! AUPE members are appalled. These conditions are unacceptable and a huge part of the reason workers are calling for changes and proper training at Points West Living Cold Lake. If you or someone you love is experiencing an issue with quality of care due to the lockout, call Protection for Persons in Care at 1-888-357-9339----------Julie Ali These are just the accommodation reports. We should have all audits on the public website like they do in Ontario. Why does the government of Alberta keep the Alberta Health Quality Audits and the CCHSS audits secret? Why do we have to FOIP them? Why aren't they all up on the site along with the PPIC reports? Is it all about lack of transparency and not informing the public?-----

Dianne Slade Gee wiz.....no surprise! Not when it comes to private owners, when it's all about money.
Sean Burgess Well we all know inspection standards are more guidlines than actual standards. It's not like anything is ever done about these gross abuses of human rights. Private companies can fail inspections again and again but at no point do we ever decide to remove and protect those in their "care". Slapped on the wrist and allowed to continue profiting off the suffering of those left in their care. I hope I can die before I'm ever condemned to such abuse.
Julie Ali And when families complain they face retribution--banning, cease and desist letters and finally lawsuits. It is quite a set up by the government of Alberta and the NDP have not changed anything.

Ray Domeij Might need to move those residents. No funding for scab employers.
Joan Bender Third world care, if you have family in a nursing home you better visit often and take care of them most of the time. My solution will be assisted suicide.
