Edward Redshaw 12 hrs · My recent communication to the Health Minister. Dear Health Minister: Thank you for your recent E-Mail dated December 2, 2016. I have forwarded it to several front line persons for comment and I will be responding to it in the near future. In that connection it appears to be essentially a composite of statements previously made to me by the Honourables Fred Horne and Stephen Mandel. Anyway, the following is a copy of a communication sent to you and the Premier dated June 13, 2015. At that time I had the misguided impression that you were going to rectify the evil doings to Long-Term Care by the previous government. This communication points out the basis for the financial problems now plaguing the facilities resulting in the ongoing downward spiral of quality care. There is no excuse for this situation. It is well within your authority, guided by conscience, to make appropriate adjustments in consultation with the facility operators involved. Just because the resident turn over rate in these facilities is between 1.2 and 2.4 years does not mean that for this brief period of time they should be deprived of the highest quality of care. Hopefully, perhaps you might receive a visit from The Ghost of Christmas Past (A Christmas Carol by the English novelist Charles Dickens) to assist you in this regard. Still Keeping the Faith.
