An analysis conducted for the provinces said that the federal share of health funding under either of the government’s offers would drop from 22.9 per cent this year to about 20 per cent or lower.----------Julie Ali Maybe this is an opportunity for the GOA to get rid of the two health authorities and make just one? How about it GOA? We are paying double for no darn reason that I can determine. Why not phase out Covenant Health and have AHS as one authority? And while the GOA is doing this cut the executive pay to normal rather than stratospheric levels. What are we the bank of the elite? In other words most of the executive staff do nothing that I can determine other than yap in public or in private so why the big salaries, benefits, expenses etc? It's ridiculous. At the same time as the GOA is amalgamating the health authorities to reduce the waste of cash why not also make one school system (PUBLIC) and not two or three (PUBLIC, Catholic, Private)? You could then eliminate all these useless school boards with their bigwig trustees and chairs etc who do nothing for student achievement other than siphon cash away from front line staff. There is also an opportunity for cost savings by deleting whole sections of staff from the GOA who have no deliverables as well as from the post secondary school system where we have bureaucrats up to the eyeballs. Why do we have so many universities when we don't need them? Why are we paying for such a lot of institutions without performance or excellence? As for the sad situation in the ABCs (agencies, boards and commissions) there needs to be amalgamation and removal of entrenched folks from these places. There are plenty of ways to do well with less but the only problem is that no one has the political balls to shake up the system except the citizens of Alberta. If the NDPCs won't do it -we'll do it for them in the next election. Like · Reply · Just now Eric Emshey----
