we are the change makers not them

we  hire new people to government
at all levels
and we wait for change  but change never  happens

we hire new people to government
to replace the ones that were entrenched
and realize that the surface is different but the rest is the same

we hire new people to government
but the citizens must do the work that they won't do
because there is no incentive to support children and adults with complex needs

we hire new people to government
and see   the system is in disarray   citizens must work for decades
to document system failures that leave families fractured and their loved ones dead

we hire new people to government
don't expect them to be the change   instead
change yourselves and your families   do what government can't and won't do

we hire new people to government
the way out is exposure and action by citizens
be the change    and fire them over and over     we are the change makers  not them
