Manipulation of Free Speech on Facebook-----Julie Ali Just now · Because it is early and I am awake I am going to write about stuff that bothers me. I am going to write about the anti-democratic acts of politicians. Once I believed in politicians -naive though this might seem to you all. I am after all a stay at home mummy. I don't usually have any contact with the outside world since I am enclosed in an embryonic sac of books. Once in a while I do encounter reality such as bad acts by politicians. I got banned from Rachel Notley's Facebook page for asking questions about my handicapped sister's care, for disagreeing that we get major benefits from the oil and gas industry (I mean we do get some benefits but what about the disadvantages such as fracking contamination) and for yapping about rural Albertans impacted by fracking such as Jessica Ernst and Diana Daunheimer. Then I got banned from Mr. Justin Trudeau's Facebook page for asking Mr. Trudeau to get going (get off his butt) and work to bring the children home (#AzerKidsNeedMum). I got banned from the Wildrose site for disagreeing with the comments of some of their constituents which seemed silly. Then I got banned from Alberta Politics because the writer there is a NDP affiliate. I am simply amazed. Now Susan on the Soapbox won't let me comment on her blog as I guess she is fed up of my long comments that are not complimentary to the NDP. At the Public Interest Alberta Facebook page we have another NDP affiliate in Joel French sprouting the NDP way to us through the mechanism of the group; before we used to have a proper advocate in Bill Moore-Kilgannon leading that group and now we have a facsimile. The NDP folks are pretty neat. They got Bill neutralized by offering him a plum job at Alberta Health and then did the dirty on him by moving him somewhere in the bowels of government so that in essence he is a rubber stamp now rubber stamping all the dumb decisions that government makes. What was this post about? I guess it was about free speech and the manipulation of what the public gets to hear. I have a right to speak on public boards. I have a right to speak to all elected politicians who get my tax dollars without complaint. I have a right to repeatedly speak if I am writing unique e-mails every time. I have the right to be heard in these public sites. But no one cares. The personal bloggers can do what they want of course but in my opinion it doesn't reflect well on them when they eliminate diverse voices such as those of stay at home mummies and really why are they afraid of the comments of a stay at home mummy? Why are the big powerful politicians afraid of the stay at home mummy? I can't tell the prime minister of Canada on his Facebook page what I am telling him here because these politicians are afraid that the information I provide damages their credibility as our political hires. It does damage their credibility. But what damages their credibility more is the fear that gets them to spuriously remove our voices from their public pages. We should not take this banning lightly. We should yap on Facebook and Twitter. We should keep asking the same questions as I am doing here. What are you doing for Alison Azer Mr. Trudeau? And yes, Get going Mr. Trudeau. #Bringthechildrenhome, #AzerKidsNeedMum. LikeShow more reactionsComment
